Our Therapy

A trauma informed approach recognizing and responsive to the signs, symptoms, and risks of trauma in order to provide the care and support necessary to meet the needs of each individual.  

Our approach to the treatment of substance disorders is unique in that the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) are integrated with other therapeutic evidence based interventions. The function(s) of the addictive behavior are identified and contingency management systems are incorporated into the treatment programming.  Emphasis is placed on improving interpersonal relationships and building prosocial recreational activities and networks. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps to identify and examine thinking errors leading to negative feelings and behaviors. We focus heavily on shifting those negative thoughts into more positive-realistic thoughts which allow for the change of maladaptive behaviors.

Specialized treatment services focusing on the effects of substance exposure on children are available. Parenting education is provided to support parents on their journey of sobriety.

*Although the treatment of substance use disorders incorporates the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA), they are non-ABA services and not covered by my BACB credential.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior.  ABA is designed to improve socially significant behaviors by implementing interventions that are based on the principles of learning theory.

Telehealth services are available via HIPAA compliant video software.  Connecting online has served as an entry point for children and families to receive services they need and desire. Creative strategies are utilized to increase engagement with children during virtual sessions.
